Wadi Adai 220/132 kv Sub station

The Wadi Adai 220/132 KV grid station was the largest substation to be built at its time. The project consisted of a 220 KV GIS, 132 KV GIS with basement, switchyard area and two 500 MVA transformer areas. The project was built on the peak of a mountain that required large earthworks and infrastructure development. The hill cutting volume and earth filling was circa 400,000 cubic meters. The infrastructure included roads, pavers, wadi diversion channels and large retaining walls. The civil work consisted of three large buildings with service basements and overhead cranes to accommodate the large electrical equipment.
